| The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo |
| The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo is an annual event usually appearing in the Oakland area during the month of July. "As you probably know, the rodeo was named after the legendary creator of Bull Doggin', William "Bill" Pickett. And as a tribute to the "Bull Dogger", the rodeo is dedicated to all the black cowboys and cowgirls of the past who helped shape the West and those of today who help to keep the spirit of the West alive. Their contribution in the arena is matched only by their contribution to making our community stronger." — Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo |
